- Tillman Military Scholars – “Education is the First Step Towards Change”
Founded in 2008, the Tillman Military Scholars program supports our nation’s active-duty service members, veterans and military spouses by investing in their higher education. Since the program’s inception, the Foundation has invested over $4.6 million in scholarships for 290 scholars nationwide.
The scholarship covers educational expenses, including tuition and fees, books and living stipend. But scholars receive much more than just funding. Our program unites the best talent and leadership in the military to make a significant, positive impact on our country and our local communities.
The scholars chosen reflect Pat’s values, strength of character and commitment to service. They demonstrate extraordinary academic and leadership potential and a deep desire to impact change through their studies in the fields of medicine, law, business, government, education and the arts. - The American Legion Scholarships – The American Legion offers a number of Scholarships and other resources to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. There are opportunities for everyone, including kin of wartime veterans and participants in Legion programs.
- Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Scholarships – The VFW and one of its major supporters, Sport Clips Haircuts, have again partnered to help our veterans and their families. The VFW "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" will provide service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt. It’s just another way to say “thank you” to those who deserve it the most. Please see below for full details on the scholarship program and to apply.
- American Veterans (AMVETS) National Scholarships – AMVETS annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.
- Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) – Do you have excessive loans from attending a For-Profit School? IAVA, Scholarship America and The Kisco Foundation can help relieve your debt.
- Retroactive Scholarship – Leave No Veteran Behind addresses this issue by taking private donations and applying them directly to Veterans’ student loan accounts paying off the debt in full. Veterans must have completed some form of higher education, suffer from economic hardship, and have student loans because they were not fully covered by existing educational programs.
