Welcome to the SUNY New Paltz Office of Veteran & Military Services! Since our founding in 2014, it has been our privilege to support and guide military service members, veterans, and dependents during their higher education journey. At SUNY New Paltz, your core values, experience, and service are never overlooked. We are committed to the intellectual, personal, and professional growth of all our students.

As a veteran, dependent of two veterans and a New Paltz alumnus, I am excited to be part of the New Paltz community assisting you in pursuing your dreams and educational goals. I look forward to helping all of you join the talented community of learners and educators that provide extraordinary pathways for enrichment.

The Office of Veteran & Military Services, located in Student Union (SUB 100 South), is staffed with a full-time Assistant Director of Veteran & Military Services and Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official, two administrative support staff, graduate student assistant and Veterans Affairs Work-Study Students. Our purpose is to aid all U.S. military service members, veterans, and dependents from application to graduation.

Our services include but are not limited to assisting with the following:

  • GI Bill® programs and certification of benefits
  • Federal and state military tuition assistance (TA)
  • Veteran scholarships
  • General questions regarding Department of Veteran Affairs’ issues
  • Free parking permits for military and veteran students.

We have a dedicated lounge space and offer an array of programing throughout the semester to help you build community and support your studies. All current and prospective student veterans, service members, and their dependents (regardless of age and financial dependance) are encouraged to take advantage of our services.

At SUNY New Paltz, we pride ourselves in equipping our students with not just a degree that will open doors to career opportunities, but also an education that inspires a lifelong passion for learning.
