STUDENT AMBASSADOR

A Student Ambassador is the primary student contact between the public and SUNY New Paltz in the area of Undergraduate Admission. A Student Ambassador is charged with serving as a host to visiting prospective students and their families as well as providing guidance and information over the phone and through e-mail.

Eligibility

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • On campus resident and ability to show personal room
  • Minimum cumulative and most recent semester GPA of 2.5.
  • Clean judicial record
  • Completed one academic year at New Paltz by the start of their employment

Preferred Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Host prospective students and their families on weekly walking tours of campus.
  • Host campus visits on select weekends throughout the academic year.
  • Work Open House in the Fall and two Accepted Student Days in the Spring

Application Timeline

  • Application Due: Friday, March 13th, 2025
  • Interview Dates: March 30th through April 3rd
  • Decision Release Date: Monday, April 20th

WELCOME CENTER GREETER 

A Welcome Center Greeter is the primary contact for phone inquiries and campus visitors. This role involves providing accurate information, assisting with campus resources, and supporting major admissions events. 

Eligibility

  • Must have served as a Student Ambassador for at least two semesters by the start of the applied semester.
  • Minimum cumulative and most recent semester GPA of 2.5.
  • A clean campus judicial record.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Greet and assist walk-in visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Provide information regarding campus directions, academic programs, cultural offerings, and event details.
  • Maintain and organize displays and literature racks to ensure materials are current and accessible.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for all visitors.
  • Serve as backup for general campus tours and assist with additional tours and events as needed.
  • Participate in major campus events, including Fall Open House and two Accepted Student Open Houses in the Spring.
