Merit-Based Scholarships at SUNY New Paltz

At SUNY New Paltz, students are automatically reviewed for merit-based scholarships when they submit their Common Application or SUNY Application. No separate scholarship application is required.

HAWK SCHOLARSHIP

$2,000/year

Awarded to first-year, NYS residents who earn a high school GPA of 90+, demonstrate academic achievement and strong performance in main subject areas.

ORANGE AND BLUE SCHOLARSHIP

$3,000/year

Awarded to first-year, NYS residents who earn a high school GPA of 93+, demonstrate academic achievement and strong performance in main subject areas.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

$5,000/year

Awarded to first-year, NYS residents who earn a high school GPA of 96+, demonstrate academic achievement and strong performance in main subject areas.

STATE-LINE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

$5,000/year

Awarded to first-year, non-NYS, domestic residents who earn a high school GPA of 90+, demonstrate academic achievement and strong performance in main subject areas.

 


SUNY TUITION MATCH PROGRAM

SUNY New Paltz participates in the SUNY Tuition Match Program for select undergraduate students who reside outside of New York state.

Students from the following states will receive a State Match award to match the in-state tuition for the flagship campus in the following states:

  • California*
  • Connecticut*
  • Illinois
  • Massachusetts
  • New Hampshire*
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania*
  • Vermont*

Students who are also eligible for the State-Line Presidential will receive both awards.

*Please note that students from these states will not receive additional match money as the flagship campus tuition is already higher than our out-of-state tuition.

  • Please note, if you receive admission into one of our dual-degree medical programs, your award amount will be reduced to reflect three years of study, and your scholarship will be evenly distributed over the six semesters you are at New Paltz.
  • Scholarships are for Undergraduate study only and cannot be used for Graduate programs in the event you graduate early. Funds are intended to be evenly distributed over eight semesters of undergraduate study. Any unused funds due to early graduation cannot be used for preceding semesters.
  • These scholarships are available to incoming first-year students.
