English majors may apply for the English honors program if they have a grade point average of 3.50 in at least six English courses (exclusive of Composition courses: ENG160, ENG170, ENG180, ENG206, ENG207). They must make application to the Chair of English during the second semester of their junior year. During their senior year, they will write an honors thesis that will be judged by a three-person committee. They may earn three credits for this work, which can count as an elective in their major program. Successful completion of the honors program entitles the student to graduate with honors in English -- acknowledged on their college transcript.
