One of the most popular myths surrounding studying abroad is that it is expensive and unaffordable. However, the key to a successful experience abroad is planning. As you plan, consider how you will balance your goals for studying abroad with your financial situation. The Center for International Programs makes study abroad affordable for all students by offering in person and virtual advising, scholarship informational sessions, planning tips, and cost education. Each New Paltz Study Abroad Program page contains a cost budget sheet detailing what a student will be billed for their program as well as the estimated costs associated with the program to ensure cost transparency.
Scholarships
SUNY New Paltz offers scholarships for study abroad experiences through generous contributions and strategic partnerships. If eligible, these and other scholarships can be applied toward your study abroad program.
- SUNY New Paltz Foundation

- Gilman Scholarship Program
Student Financial Services
If you are currently receiving financial aid in the form of a scholarship, grant, or loan from your home campus, you may be able to continue to receive that same financial aid to apply towards the cost of your participation in a New Paltz Study Abroad Program. The Office of Student Financial Services at SUNY New Paltz provides aid and advisory services to New Paltz students and families seeking resources to achieve educational goals. If you are a financial aid recipient or want to understand more about how study abroad will affect your financial situation, contact the office.
