International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of international and intercultural education initiatives on campus and beyond. The Center for International Programs is working in collaboration with other campus departments to host various programs and events in recognition of International Education Week, November 17-21. Come join us!

THROUGHOUT THE WEEK

  • Sojourner Truth Library: International Authors Book Selection
    This semester, SUNY New Paltz is home to international students hailing from 32 countries around the world! Check out the library’s special selection of books written by authors from the students’ home countries.

  • Residence Life: Multicultural Programming
    Look for multicultural programming with your Resident Advisors in celebration of International Education Week!

  • Open Doors 2025 Annual Data Release
    Opening International Education week on November 17th, the Open Doors® Report on International Educational Exchange will release new findings, including data on international student enrollments in the United States during the 2024/25 academic year and U.S. students studying abroad during the 2023/24 academic year.

    ESL students are invited to visit the United Nations for a guided tour, which will include various counsel rooms, such the General Assembly Hall. Students will learn about the history of the UN as well as view works of art that have been donated to the organization over the years.

    Known as the "Home of the Gunks," the Mohonk Preserve is New York's largest non-profit nature preserve in New York State, spanning over 8,000 acres of mountain ridges, forests, fields, streams, ponds, and other unique and beautiful places.     Astronomy Night: The Night Sky of the Seri People
    Coykendall Science Building, Main Lobby
    John R. Kirk Planetarium

    Anthropology major Emily Grace will present the planetarium show:
    "All around the world, people have looked up to the sky and given different names and stories to what they saw in the night sky to try and understand the world around them. Join us as we take a trip to one of these different sky cultures and learn about how the Seri people of Mexico viewed their night sky and what the stars meant to them."
    Planetarium shows take place inside the John R. Kirk Planetarium, located in the Coykendall Science Building main lobby.  Latecomers will not be seated due to the darkened environment inside the Planetarium, so please arrive on time. Tickets presented after the start time listed on them are void.

    Admission is free, but a ticket is required for entry, as space is limited (43 people).
