The Center for International Programs offers ample opportunities for students to study STEM while abroad. While the AC² (AMP & CSTEP Community) Program at SUNY New Paltz promotes academic excellence and provides preparation, resources, and opportunities critical to student success, the Center for International Programs is striving to design study abroad programs for STEM students.
Bias Response Reporting and Support
The Bias Response and Report Team is coordinated through the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer and includes representatives from Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. These individuals are often key resources in resolving concerns about climate and have experience in trauma-informed practices.
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
At SUNY New Paltz, the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) serves as a primary vehicle to increase access, retention, and academic excellence of New York's historically underserved students (low income, first generation). EOP students are encouraged to study abroad and our staff is constantly striving to assist EOP students in navigating the study abroad process by working closely with the EOP Office.
The Center for International Programs work with the University to promote an array of support services and space spaces for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff. This includes maintaining strong relationships with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the New Paltz Allies Program, the Rivera House (an LGBTQ+ Living-Learning Community), and Residential Life as well as practicing the Chosen/Preferred Name Policy and having staff regularly attend LGBTQ+ workshops and events. We encourage students of all identities to study abroad and aim to educate students on global LGBTQ+ ideals, identities, and policies.
Scholar's Mentorship Program (SMP)
SMP is a multicultural program, founded by the Black Studies Department, that addresses the educational disparities of the historically underrepresented students of SUNY New Paltz. SMP develops a community of scholars and leaders who celebrate academic achievement, whilst becoming culturally competent, to develop an inclusive campus.
We support military and veteran students to achieve their international education goals. On campus, the Office of Veteran and Military Services’ provides assistance to all U.S. Service members, veterans, and dependents from application to graduation. They assist with all benefits covered under the various GI Bill® programs; military tuition assistance (TA); veteran scholarships; general questions regarding Department of Veteran Affairs’ issues; and free parking permits for military and veteran students.
