Many students from across all majors at New Paltz—from Psychology, Digital Media Production, Sociology, and Biology to Theatre Arts, Music, Communication Disorders, Art History, and more—have found the Art Studio Minor to be an attractive way to enhance their disciplines with a layer of creativity and curiosity.
Admission to the Art Studio Minor is open only to non-art majors with a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Application is approved by the Department of Art.
The Art Studio Minor consists of 18 credits, including 6 credits in introductory studio courses (including ceramics, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and studio art); 3 to 6 credits in design; and 6 to 12 credits in drawing and basic studio courses.
