Undergraduate Programs/Areas of Study: Art Studio Minor

Many students from across all majors at New Paltz—from Psychology, Digital Media Production, Sociology, and Biology to Theatre Arts, Music, Communication Disorders, Art History, and more—have found the Art Studio Minor to be an attractive way to enhance their disciplines with a layer of creativity and curiosity.

Open only to non-art majors, admission to the Art Studio Minor requires completion of 30 college credits with proof of minimum grade point average of 2.5, as well as approval of the Department of Art chair. Students are permitted to elect the minor as freshmen once they have a GPA established from their first semester (at least a 2.5).

The Art Studio Minor consists of 18 credits, including 6 credits in introductory studio courses (including ceramics, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and studio art); 3 to 6 credits in design; and 6 to 12 credits in drawing and basic studio courses.

See the undergraduate catalog for the full Art Studio Minor plan of study.
