Psychological Counseling Center


The PCC helps SUNY New Paltz students manage their mental and emotional well-being so that they can achieve their academic goals. Our diverse and culturally responsive staff is dedicated to helping students build healthy coping skills that support personal growth. The PCC offers a caring, confidential, and judgment-free space for all currently registered students. Services are provided at no cost.

Hours:  Fall and Spring Semester: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.   

             Summer and Winter Intersession: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.  

             Available 24/7 for crisis support via phone during the academic year    

Location: The PCC is located in the Student Health and Counseling Center (the round building by the pond on Southside Loop Road, near Gage and Ridgeview Halls). Find us on the campus map. 

Parking: Parking is provided for our clients in front of the building – check in at our front desk if you need a parking pass. 

 

How To Make an Appointment 

For Urgent Mental Health Support 

  • During business hours - call 845-257-2920 or walk into the PCC to meet with one of our crisis counselors for immediate, same-day support. 
  • After hours or on the weekend - call the same office line, 845-257-2920. 
    • Follow the prompts to reach our answering service, who will then contact a PCC counselor to return your call ASAP. 
    • Be sure to state your name and phone number clearly, and ensure that your phone can receive calls from an unknown/blocked number.  

For All Other Appointments 

Call us at 845-257-2920 or stop by the PCC office to set up an appointment. Most services begin with a 1-hour intake appointment scheduled at a time that works for you. 

 

PCC Services 

Our licensed PCC counselors offer a wide range of clinical services, including but not limited to: 

  • Same-day crisis intervention 
  • Time-limited individual therapy 
  • Group counseling 
  • Psychiatric consultation 
  • Referrals to off-campus providers and/or other campus supports 
  • In-person and telehealth options available 

PCC services are available to students registered for the current semester. We serve undergraduate and graduate students, including those with military service and veteran experience.
