Jo Ann Golden ’69 is a certified public accountant, licensed in New York. From 2000 through 2012, she was the managing partner of the New Hartford, New York office of Dermody Burke and Brown, CPAs (DB&B), a regional accounting firm headquartered in Syracuse. Prior to her partnership, she operated her own firm which was merged into DB&B.
Ms. Golden is a past President of the New York State Society of CPA’s. She currently is the chair of the Society’s Professional Ethics Committee and also serves as a member and past chair of its Banking Committee. She is a member of the State Society’s Financial Accounting Standards Committee. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), serving in the past on the AICPA Council representing New York. From 2003 through 2018, she was a member of the Board of Directors of ConMed Corporation (Cnmd), a public medical device company (NYSE), serving in later years as chair of its Audit Committee. Until December 31, 2017 Golden was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Utica, serving in this role since December 2009, and as chair of the Audit & Examining Committee since 2010. The Bank of Utica is the largest single branch bank in New York with assets of more than $1 billion.
Ms. Golden is currently serving as consultant to publisher Commerce Clearing House, (CCH) as author of the annual update of its Audit Guide for the Financial Institutions. She serves as an independent board member of Hartman Enterprises, Inc. a family business involved in the production of precision machine parts. She is immediate past chair of the New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc., a capacity building and advocacy organization with over 3,000 member organizations. She is treasurer of the Toscana at Vasari Village Association, Inc Board of Directors (Bonita Springs, FL).
Having graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a BA in secondary education mathematics, Ms. Golden has been a member of the Foundation’s Audit Committee for the past 11 years. She resides in Bonita Springs, FL and spends summers in Wellesley Island, NY.
