Ira Schreck '74

Ira Schreck '74Ira Schreck has been practicing entertainment law for over 30 years. A member of both the New York and California bars, Ira is a founding partner of Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham, which has offices in New York City and Beverly Hills. The firm specializes in the representation of the creative community – writers, directors and actors working in film, television and theater.

Ira graduated with honors from SUNY New Paltz in 1974 with a degree in philosophy. Several years later, he attended Columbia Law School where he was both a Kent and Stone Scholar. After graduating from law school in 1980, he clerked for U.S. District Judge H. Lee Sarokin.

Ira is on the Board of Trustees of Second Stage Theater. He is also on the Board of Opening Act, which runs after-school theater programs in over 65 of New York City’s neediest high schools, and is a member of the Land Management & Facilities Committee of the Mohonk Preserve.

Ira and his wife Barbara Ginsberg (SUNY Binghamton ’77) have lived in High Falls since 1986 and have two sons, cat and a dog. They have become increasingly active in the New Paltz community, contributing to several SUNY New Paltz initiatives. In 2020, they established the Student Psychological Resilience Project Fund, which provides students with the training and skills needed to cope with stress related to the pandemic and multiple other challenges through a peer advocacy model.
