"Standards: New, Old, and Borrowed” is an evening of music that weaves together classics and bold contemporary works. This West Point Band concert features exciting pieces by modern composers Jessica Meyer and Anthony Barfield, alongside “Hudson Granite,” an original work by the band’s deputy commander, Capt. Philip Tappan, inspired by the iconic stone architecture of West Point. Concert band classics include Percy Grainger’s “Molly on the Shore,” Darius Milhaud’s “West Point Suite,” and an arrangement of Claude Debussy’s “The Engulfed Cathedral.” Staff Sgt. Francisco Aisporna brings soulful warmth to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be in My Heart,” and “You Raise Me Up,” wrapping up a concert that celebrates musical standards: new, old, and borrowed.
