Posting 1) Nassau County Museum of Art
Summer Art Lab Paid Internship, July-August 2024
The Nassau County Museum of Art is seeking a driven, enthusiastic intern to work closely with
the School and Family Program Educator during the Summer Art Lab program. Over the course
of 4 weeks, this intern will help to facilitate art making experiences with a group of children aged
5 – 12 both indoors and out. This intern will be able to experience a behind-the-scenes look at
working in a museum, with a concentration in the Education department.
Preference will be given to a candidate seeking a degree in education or a related field. Available
to current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates.
Responsibilities include:
- Works with the School and Family Program educator in managing and teaching group of
children aged 5 - 12 - Assist in prepping, teaching, presenting, and documenting art making
- Being present and engaged with children throughout all art making, explorations and
activities - Investigating Museum Education strategies and resources to apply to Summer Art Lab
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children, either in a school or alternative setting
Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic - Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and confidently with young children
Knowledge of varied art materials and processes preferred - Ability and/or experience in hanging and presenting art
- Expected to be fully present and engaged on all dates scheduled for Art Lab.
Availability:
- 2 meetings before July 8th to discuss expectations and curriculum with School and
Family Program Educator – dates to be mutually decided upon by both parties after
acceptance of the position - July 8th-August 2nd, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Compensation:
This is a 4 week paid internship, with stipend received upon completion of Art Lab hours ($1,200
based upon minimum wage and hours)

Over the course of 4 weeks, this intern will help to facilitate art making experiences with a group of children aged 5 – 12 both indoors and out. This intern will have the opportunity to experience a behind-the-scenes look at working in a museum, with a concentration in the Education department.
Preference will be given to a candidate seeking a degree in art or a related field. Available to current high school students (entering junior or senior year) and undergraduate students, as well as recent graduates.
Responsibilities include:
- Assists the School and Family Program educator in managing a group of children aged 5 - 12
- Assist in prepping, presenting, and documenting art making
- Being present and engaged with children throughout all art making, explorations and activities
Requirements:

This is a 4 week unpaid internship. We can provide credit towards required volunteer hours for high school programs. College credits must be determined in advance with your university. We ask that you speak with your academic advisor ahead of the interview to determine all necessary steps. We do not cover the cost of college credits.
