The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz invites artists working in all media to submit proposals for its annual exhibition of contemporary art made by artists in the Hudson Valley. Titled “Movement,” this iteration is the 18th Hudson Valley Artists exhibition in the series and will pilot a model in which a local artist is brought on as the guest curator to select the art and design the exhibition.
Tony Award-winning actress and producer LaChanze helped the Department of Theatre Arts open its 2024-25 season, visiting with students and sitting for a conversation with the director, writer and actor Jammie Patton. Patton is directing Theatre Arts’ production of “Trouble in Mind” this year, and LaChanze was nominated for a Tony for her performance in the same play on Broadway in 2021.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, hundreds of students from the incoming class processed down Excelsior Concourse – led by the Saints of Swing brass marching band, and cheered on by faculty and staff – for a ceremony on Old Main Quad and a get-to-know-you BBQ on a beautiful late-summer day.
