PechaKucha: GD Thesis I Presentations
The Graphic Design BFA Senior Thesis is a two-semester exploration of a topic or issue that uses design to inform, engage, and communicate. Each year, Thesis I students give 4-minute presentations about their in-progress work, inspired by the PechaKucha method, a storytelling format created by architects in Tokyo in the early 2000s as a way for designers to “talk less, show more.”

Come learn and hear about the students' thesis projects, which will be presented at the Design Show in May 2026!

Prem Krishnamurthy
Past Words / Future Words

In this unconventional event incorporating design, writing, and performance (plus karaoke!), Prem Krishnamurthy reveals the experimental methods that undergird sunsilencing, v.1.0.0, his speculative-novel-in-the-making. Amid an age of artificial intelligence and systems change, Past Words / Future Words offers participants a chance to workshop their questions and queries around transformations of technology, language, relations, and consciousness itself.

Prem Krishnamurthy has directed design studios, established galleries and institutions, curated large-scale international exhibitions, and taught widely. He received the Cooper Hewitt’s National Design Award for Communications Design in 2015 and KW Institute for Contemporary Art’s “A Year With” fellowship in 2018. In 2019, Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies acquired his professional papers. His books include P!DF (2017–2020), On Letters (2022), and Past Words (2024), an anthology of his writing and experimental curatorial projects. In 2022, Krishnamurthy founded Department of Transformation, an artist-organized group that prototypes new methods for togetherness, learning, and collective healing.

From G-code to Paycheck – Early Careers in Digital Fabrication

Hear recent graduates of the Digital Design & Fabrication (DDF) program reflect on how they turned studio practice into their first roles across design, manufacturing, and entertainment. They’ll unpack the skills, toolchains, and mindsets that translated from the classroom to the shop floor along with what didn’t.

There will be snacks!
